Monica's handbound books

Monica is a friend from SCAD, and she makes these amazing handbound books. She was a Graphic Design major, but took a Fibers bookbinding class as an elective and fell in love. After she graduated, she got into an exclusive bookmaking program at the North Bennet Street School in Boston. I didn't even know that a place like that exsisted, where you could still become a master of a real craft. A few months ago she used a few of the vintage thread tassels that I usually make for necklaces as bookmarks for some guest books. The books were for... ahem...a certain entertainment company based out of Orlando. I can't show you the whole book, but here is a tiny teaser.

Even just looking at this cropped image, it is crazy to me that this is handmade. Look at that embossing on the cover and the gold lettering. I wish you could see the whole book.
